Menus 4 Moms is a free weekly menu plan with 5 nights of dinner menus including recipes and grocery list. Although new recipes are periodically introduced, including some dishes you might not otherwise be inclined to try, the menus are based on food your family will actually eat - meat and potatoes, casseroles, soups, and the like.

Each week a 5 day dinner menu is posted with recipes and grocery lists included. Menus are based on the Busy Cooks Pyramid and include cooking for the freezer and planned leftovers as well as using quick and easy recipes and tools like slow cookers and bread machines. Menus generally will feed a family of 4 with leftovers or a family of 6 without leftovers. If your children are teenage boys, however, all bets are off!

While menus flow from week to week sometimes using planned leftovers we have prepared in previous weeks, each week includes detailed notes that explain how to jump into the current menu with alternatives to the planned leftovers. The notes also give alternatives for health or convenience. Occasionally menus will include tips on healthy cooking, such as how to cook with whole grains or ways to sneak nutrients into the meals. The menus will include cooking meals for the freezer, planning leftovers, quick and easy recipes, fast ingredients, and the use of tools and techniques to make your dinner hour low stress.

Menus are based on keeping a stocked pantry and freezer. Each week we add to our "Freezer Investments" account by cooking individual ingredients in bulk. If we are browning a pound of ground beef for tacos, we may brown 5 pounds and freeze the rest. You will find that routine use of this method saves hours in the long run because it doesn't take much more time to brown several pounds of beef than it does to brown one pound, saving that preparation time the next time you need to use browned ground beef. The same method can be used with boiling chicken, sauteing peppers and onions, cooking rice, and more.

Noté bien: The women contributing to Menus 4 Moms are not nutritionists or medical professionals, just moms who want to help other moms make the most of their planning time. While we try to plan balanced, healthy meals, anyone with medical needs should realize that these menus are not prepared by nutritionists.
